JAMAICAN HIGH jumping sensation Germaine Mason has moved up five places to fourth in the Event Ranking following an outstanding week of competition.
The 20-year-old won the DN Galan Super Grand Prix in Stockholm, Sweden, last week with his third national record of the season, clearing 2.32m (1317 points in Performance Score) bettering the mark of 2.31m he cleared at the Brazil Grand Prix in May.
The University of Technology student then flew to the Dominican Republic over the weekend and set another national record by winning the Pan American Games with a leap of 2.34m (1367 points in P.S.). As a result of his consistent jumping, Mason is now joint third on the 2003 list.
Meanwhile, In the women's 400m Event Rankings, Ana Guevara of Mexico maintained her lead by winning the Pan American Games in 50.36 (1359 points in P.S.) ahead of Jamaica's Lorraine Fenton.
Fenton, who won twice over the past seven days - first in London with 49.88 (1346 points in P.S.), then in Berlin with a near identical 49.98 (1372 points in P.S.) looms in second behind Guevara.
The World and Olympic silver medallist is undefeated this year and has run under 50 seconds in her past three competitions. Fenton, 30, despite significantly strengthening her position this year has only managed to jump 20 places to 13th in the Overall Ranking.
