Air Jamaica flies through blackout
published: Friday | August 15, 2003

THREE AIR Jamaica flights to New York, and one to Newark, New Jersey, experienced delays but eventually went airborne as the biggest power blackout in history hit US cities yesterday.

"All our flights are airborne," communications manager of Air Jamaica, Sandra Falconer, said last night.

"For a time, we had delays ...a flight that should have left at 3:00 p.m. left instead at 5:00 p.m. and another scheduled to take off at 4:20 p.m. left some minutes to six. But right now, we're up and running, but we expect slight delays tomorrow (today) as everything begins to return to normal."
