THE EDITOR, Sir: DR. THE Hon. Louise Bennett -Coverley is as intricately woven into the fabric of our language, theatre, and culture as the weaves of a bankra basket. Her eloquent use of the Jamaican language gained its acceptance at a time when we had precious little that we could call our own. As the years rolled by Miss Lou in her role as unofficial Cultural Ambassador and Matriarch of the Nation represented to the world all that was good about Jamaica. Miss Lou has never failed to bring pride to our hearts and a smile to our faces. This is why Sangster's Book Stores Ltd. is so proud to be associated with Miss Lou through our publication of her literary and musical works. From Jamaica Labrish in 1966 through Anancy and Miss Lou (1979), Selected Poems (1982), Aunty Roachy Seh (1983) to a compilation of her musical works on Lawd di Riddim Sweet (1999) we have had the pleasure of working with this inimitable talent packaged in the personality of an angel. Her works remain as relevant today as when they were first written and should be made compulsive reading for teaching Jamaican heritage and culture. Wi heart ah buss wid pride as we join the rest of Jamaica in thanking Miss Lou for the invaluable contribution she has made to our country. Miss Lou, Walk good and good duppy walk wid yuh! We are, etc., SANGSTER'S BOOK STORES LTD.
