Vineyard Town roads in poor state
published: Friday | August 15, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM very disturbed about the poor and disgraceful condition of the roads in Vineyard Town. The main areas of concern though, are Roachdale Avenue, King Edward Avenue and King Edward Road. The ditches in these roads are of great concern as people's cars are being damaged, not to mention the great splashes we get whenever it rains.

The Member of Parliament for this community is Mrs. Maxine Henry-Wilson. It is unfortunate that a community under the supervision of such an astute member of the leading party should be forgotten like this. She has forgotten about the persons who contributed to her getting the opportunity to represent this side of Kingston.

Is it that only highways and byways that the tourists and dignitaries must past that should be repaired and maintained? I wrote to her last November about the deplorable condition of our roads, and nothing has been done to-date. I, along with my neighbours, believe we deserve the basic comforts of this country as the tourists who visit the main attraction areas each day. We are therefore demanding some resolution to this great discomfort we are experiencing.

I am, etc.,
