Jamaica Gleaner Letters

Stop the garbage burning
THE EDITOR, Sir: IT'S AMAZING to see how polluted our little island has become.

Hats off to Air Jamaica's staff
THE EDITOR, Sir: ON AUGUST 12, 2003, I was returning to Jamaica after participating in a surgical charity mission to Mozambique in south eastern Africa.

A pleasant holiday visit
THE EDITOR, Sir: I AM a Jamaican living overseas and I had the great pleasure of being on vacation in Jamaica during the recent Emancipation/Independence celebration.

Market Ja for bird-watchers
THE EDITOR, Sir: I would like to share with your readers the following letter from a visitor, who recently spent a week in Jamaica, specifically for the purpose of bird-watching.

Naked and unashamed
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE GOOD thing about art is that it can be interpreted differently by each listener or onlooker. I have listened keenly to the debates about the piece of art by the entrance of Emancipation Park.

How bare must the truth be?
THE EDITOR, Sir: MY VISIT to Emancipation Park has left me wondering how naked must truth be to communicate its message.

Nudity is not emancipation
THE EDITOR, Sir: WHEN I think of slavery, I think of chopping cane in complete or partial nudity. I think of being deprived of clothing, as not being seen as having any right to be covered decently.

Paltry bus fare increase
THE EDITOR, Sir: I THINK that we have got so used to opposing and quarrelling that we do so at the drop of a hat. There are many things that the government does that exacerbate our anger and cause grave hardships.
