THE EDITOR, Sir:
I WOULD like to bring to the attention of the National Works Agency the indignity that motorists travelling the road from Harbour View to Yallahs have to undergo.
The roadway is warped, there are numerous potholes, evidence of some sloppy work done periodically indicating a colossal waste of taxpayers' money. There are two fordings at 10 Miles that are in desperate need of fixing. It takes one several minutes to navigate these, leading to unnecessary pile up of traffic on a busy morning. With the re-opening of school, I fear for the delays we will encounter.
Another burning matter concerning the same roadway is the proliferation of shops of all varieties made from containers. Person just clear a spot on the sidewalk and in two days shops are up and running.
The dumping of solid waste between 12 and 14 miles is a disgrace. All sorts of rubble, old tyres, old motor vehicles, old refrigerators/machines etc., are just deposited at any clearing near the roadway.
One wonders if those whose responsibility it is to maintain our roadways are all blind people.
It is a most depressing daily experience which we have to endure.
Somebody please help!
I am, etc.,
