By Rasbert Turner, Gleaner WriterSPANISH TOWN: A 73-YEAR-OLD woman, who appeared in the Spanish Town RM court on Tuesday, was granted bail in the sum of $50,000 to reappear on an arson charge. Allegations are that last week Wednesday, about 1 p.m., Hyacinth Johnson, who was at home on Brunswick Avenue, became angry with the complainant, André Dupee, about the non-payment of rent. Dupee then left the dwelling. He returned to find the house engulfed in flames and was told by his 11-year-old daughter that the elderly Johnson set the mattress on fire and the fire quickly spread and created damage to the tune of $1.5 million. When Johnson appeared before Her Honour Lorna E. Gayle, she pleaded not guilty and was given bail for $50,000 to reappear October 13. She was ordered to surrender her travel documents to the police.
