Ex-PNP candidate shot
published: Thursday | August 21, 2003

SPALDINGS, Clarendon:

NICHOLAS BACHELOR, former People's National Party (PNP) candidate for the Clarendon North Central constituency, has been hospitalised following a shooting incident in the parish Monday night.

According to the Chapelton police, Mr. Bachelor was on his way home to Chapelton from May Pen at about 9 o'clock when he noticed a car with about three men driving behind his vehicle.

On reaching a section of the main road, the car passed and blocked his path.

The police reported that Mr. Bachelor, who was the campaign manager for former PNP MP George Lyn in last October's General election, tried to reverse when a man alighted from the motor car, pulled a gun and fired at him. He was hit in the abdomen and the motor car then sped off.

The matter was reported to the Chapelton police and Mr. Bachelor was rushed to hospital for treatment. His condition is said to be stable.
