Be smart Sean Paul
published: Friday | August 22, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM a Jamaican who is very concerned about the negative reaction to our international artistes Shabba Ranks, Shaggy and now Sean Paul.

At the recently held Reggae Sumfest show when Sean Paul arrived in a limousine, everyone thought it was Destiny's Child and was surprised to see that it was Sean Paul, so they all turned and walked away. Are we the same loving Jamaicans people often talk about? I don't think so because there is no doubt in my mind we all seem selfish.

Isn't Sean Paul worthy enough like a Jah Rule, DMX or a P. Diddy, to arrive at a show in a limousine? Hasn't he worked hard enough to enjoy his profits and why not spend it on himself, and do it in style too?

Sean, you don't have to curse bad words to fit in, and I don't think you need to fit in because you are already on top. The same artistes you are defending and are trying to 'fit in" with are the same ones who are criticising you. Be smart. Just do what the elders did, Shabba and Shaggy, mind their own business and still made it.

So please live up to your recognition and concentrate on your own career, Mr. Sean Paul.

I am, etc.,

REGGAE CHILD

Portmore,

St. Catherine
