FORMER WEST Indies fast bowler Kenneth Benjamin's appeal to leave Jerome Taylor out of Jamaica's Red Stripe squad did not materialise when the Ruddy Williams-led selection panel announced its 28-man training party yesterday. Benjamin, a former Leeward Islands player, recently said territories should not only think about winning but also about the interests of "West Indies cricket first and foremost". Benjamin said: "I am not satisfied with their strength I believe after the last series they (fast bowlers Fidel Edwards and Taylor) should have been rested for a couple weeks, they should have gone into a three-month comprehensive strengthening programme". Meanwhile, 18-year-old left-arm pacer Krishmar Santokie, who is presently in Guyana with Jamaica's Under-19 squad is listed in a squad which includes 10 players with Test experience. The 28-man squad: Robert Samuels, Brenton Parchment, Christopher Gayle, Wavell Hinds, Marlon Samuels, Shawn Findlay, Tamar Lambert, Ricardo Powell, Donovan Pagon, Carlton Baugh Jnr., Keith Hibbert, Matthew Sinclair, David Bernard Jnr., Gareth Breese, Daren Powell, Jerome Taylor, Vinard Woolcock, Kamal Dennis, Andrew Richardson, Odean Brown, Ramon Hutchinson, Bevon Brown, Lorenzo Imgram, Krishmar Santokie, Tyson Gordon, Dwight Washington, Evon McInnis and Phillip Keating.
