Carnal abusers get bail extension
published: Thursday | August 28, 2003

By Rasbert Turner, Gleaner Writer

SPANISH TOWN:

FIVE YOUNG men who allegedly raped a 12-year-old girl in Waterloo district on July 18, had their bail extended to September 12, when they will next answer to the charge of carnal abuse.

The incident occurred when the complainant was coming from summer school and took a taxi, driven by 26-year-old Duhaney Owen. Instead of taking her to her destination, he reportedly took her to a house and had sex with her. She was then locked in the house and four other men sexually assaulted her. They were identified as Cordel Ricketts, 17, Careka Wheeler, 17, Travis Davis, 18 and Marcus Crookes, 17, all of Waterloo District in St. Catherine. The ordeal is said to have lasted about six hours.

When they reappeared in the Spanish Town RM court on Tuesday, the four had their bail extended. The investigating officer is Woman Corporal Georgia Cox.
