Coach Moravek resigns
published: Thursday | August 28, 2003

By Nodley Wright, Staff Reporter

THE JAMAICA Football Federation (JFF) yesterday lost a member of its coaching staff.

American William 'Bill' Moravek, who was on technical director Carl Brown's staff, yesterday handed in his resignation.

President of the JFF Captain Horace Burrell confirmed that Moravek had resigned but said he could not speak further on the matter at that time.

"Are you calling about Moravek?" Burrell asked when he answered the phone.

Upon a confirmation that that was the case, he said that he could not comment as he was due to be in a meeting at the Federation's office beginning at 4:00 p.m. Asked if he could confirm the resignation he said "yes".

Before heading off, Burrell added that a press conference would be held this morning at 11:00.

The Gleaner failed in attempts to reach Moravek. Attempts to reach Brown and his assistant Peter Cargill were also unsuccessful.

Stories about a falling out between Moravek and Peter Cargill, Brown's second in command, have been leaking out of camp for the past two weeks. It was said that Cargill and Moravek had a heated argument at training close to two weeks ago when Cargill felt that the American was usurping his authority by attempting to take charge of training.

Then, according to sources, Moravek was told that he would not be accompanying the country's Under-23 team to Cuba where they were due to play two practice games.
