Police force is 95 per cent corrupt
published: Monday | September 1, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I JUST read deputy Commis-sioner Lucius Thomas' response to Minister Phillips' statement concerning corruption in the Jamaica Police Force. His conclusion that only five per cent of the force is corrupt is a joke, I think he should get his head out of the sand, it's more like 95 per cent of the police are corrupt.

Last year I spent three months in Jamaica, at which time I encountered police officers in my business transactions, in traffic situations and at the airport, and everyone of them asked for bribes. That's 100 per cent! so get real Mr. Deputy Commis-sioner, send out some undercover people, let them get close to these cops and get back the REAL statistics.

I am, etc.,
