Taxing from the top
published: Friday | September 5, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

WE ARE now being taxed on lottery winnings. WHY? The money we use to purchase the ticket has been taxed, (and very heavily I might add ) so why is there need to tax the winnings. If the government wishes to make up for losses they should start at the top and then work their way down not the other way around.

How come they do not try to balance their budget with their pay cuts so that we the mere citizens who keep this country going can get a break. Pretty soon things are going to be so bad we are all going to run away. But to where? There is no place as wonderful as Jamaica no matter what anyone says and this is my home sweet home. Jamaica Land We Love.

I am etc.,
