'Stop putting down good police officers'

THE EDITOR, Sir:
THE PEOPLE are crying out for good leaders, ones who will operate without apparent victimisation or prejudice.
Recently I attended a public forum honouring outstanding policemen at the Town Hall in Water Square, Falmouth during Police Week where I made by observation. One of the best and main leaders, a pioneer in community relations and promoter for peace in the parish was not present at the function when other names were called and his name was not mentioned, we had to ask for the sergeant without getting a valid answer from the panel.
It is full time for us to stop putting down good police officers. Some time ago I went to the station for some assistance and the experienced sergeant gave me some food for thought based on some family problem I had. This is the type of policemen we need in our community and society. Sergeant Brown is a mediator, mentor, teacher and a family counsellor.
On behalf of the citizens of Falmouth and its environs, we hail Sergeant Brown of the Falmouth police, a role model and stalwart of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
