Letter of the day - Between a rock and a hard place
THE EDITOR, Sir: I LISTENED intently to a conversation between Motty Perkins and a Brown's Town businessman on August 29, 2003 as the businessman so ably pointed out the various problems he observed that were affecting business people and Jamaica..

Consult Jamaican people on CCJ
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE MANNER in which the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) is being foisted on this country is an insult to the people.

I got support on some issues
THE EDITOR, Sir: ON MONDAY 1st September, I read an article in the Sunday Gleaner, dated August 31, 2003, headlined 'I got little support.' The body of the story is fairly accurate but the issue of support has been taken out of context.

Portmore is not the new bypass
THE EDITOR, Sir: I AM using this medium to make an appeal to the residents in Spanish Town and beyond who insist on using the Greater Portmore/Portmore roads as their thoroughfare.

Minimum wage increase a drop in the pan
THE EDITOR, Sir: I WAS so disgusted at the air of importance that the Minister of Labour, Social Security and Welfare exuded in announcing the 11 per cent increase in the national minimum wage.

Giving with one hand, taking with another
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE CARTOON showing Minister Omar Davies waiting outside the door on the person just receiving an increase in minimum wage to take it away in taxes was most apt.

Traffic lights needed at UWI campus entrance
THE EDITOR, Sir: I WISH to use this medium to ask the National Works Agency and the Principal of the Mona Campus, University of the West Indies, for a favour. Please install traffic lights at the main entrance to UWI, Mona, on Hermitage Road.

Sean Paul, a musical ambassador for Ja
THE EDITOR, Sir: SEAN PAUL deserves commendation for the trail he has been blazing across Europe and the USA in recent months. At the recent MTV Video Music Awards Sean Paul was the featured opening act for the outdoor pre-show.

Omar, your hands are already full
THE EDITOR, Sir: I FIND it difficult to comprehend why our beleaguered Finance Minister, Dr. Omar Davies , would chose to take on another daunting task when it would seem to me that his hands are already full tending to our ailing economy.
