THE EDITOR, Sir:I AM usng this medium to make an appeal to the residents in Spanish Town and beyond who insist on using the Greater Portmore/Portmore roads as their thoroughfare.
For the past four days I have been leaving my house in the 1 North scheme at 5:45 a.m. and cannot get out of the scheme because of the traffic congestion both on the Braeton Parkway and the Old Braeton Road and getting into Kingston nearly 2 1/2 hours later.
My daughter attends a prominent high school in Kingston which starts at 7:35 a.m. One of their rules is that if a student is late more than three times for the week, they get a detention. I don't know how much longer the residents in Portmore, especially those in Greater Portmore can take this. I for one am completely burnt out after this week.
Getting up at 5 a.m. to leave in 45 minutes with a teenager, eating breakfast and partially getting dressed in the car in order to 'beat the traffic' to reach Kingston by 7:35 a.m. (school drop off) and 8:30 a.m. for work is too much.
Please, please we are begging you, use the Highways Spanish Town Bypass and Mandela, we think it would be easier for everyone. Thank you.
