Mandeville's fire and water woes
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE APPROACH being taken to solve the problem of fires in Mandeville is incorrect and it will lead to nothing. The inadequacy of the fire service and the water supply is an enormous problem which cannot be solved overnight.

More liberal firearm laws
THE EDITOR, Sir: IN RESPONSE to 'Keeping The Poor Unarmed', I am in total agreement with Mr. Henry.

Congrats to Jade!
THE EDITOR, Sir: CONGRATS TO the new Miss Jamaica World, Jade Fulford! You were the right choice by far, a symbol of grace, beauty and elegance, with a refreshing and unique sense of style and purpose! ...

On the matter of sterilisation
THE EDITOR, Sir: BEARING IN mind the nutty proposal from Mrs. Sharon Hay-Webster, it would be interesting to find out how many Members of Parliament and Senators, her colleagues and political leaders have children born out of wedlock.

How low will they go?
THE EDITOR, Sir: CICERO, THE great Roman, said taxes are the sinews of the state? But alas! Our modern Davies has resorted to collect blood, sweat and tears.

Please, talk to the people
THE EDITOR, Sir: RESIDENTS OF the Wharf Road area of Smithfield district in Savanna-la-Mar are up in arms over the clearing of the swamp lands around them currently being carried out by an un-named contractor.

Nightmares from the noise
THE EDITOR, Sir: I AM writing on behalf of the East Portland Citizens Associa-tion. And after having interviewed citizens in the Long Bay Square area we have to make the following complaint.

Utilising our skilled trainees
THE EDITOR, Sir: I AM suggesting that the authorities utilise the HEART trainees on the construction of the units on the Urban Renewal Projects...

Upliftment of the majority
THE EDITOR, Sir: I WOULD like to remind the Government and the Opposition that, in the last analysis, policies should focus mainly on the social and economical upliftment of the majority with special reference to the poor...

Poor but determined
THE EDITOR, Sir: CONGRATULATIONS TO Mrs. Gladys-Beason Hyatt on the Governor Genaral's Award she received recently. She is my schoolmate although she may not remember me (Madge Robotham).
