Nightmares from the noise
published: Wednesday | September 17, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM writing on behalf of the East Portland Citizens Associa-tion. And after having interviewed citizens in the Long Bay Square area we have to make the following complaint.

Whenever there is a dance or a bashment at Long Bay Square, we experience nightmares at a certain time of the night when the "selecta" or disc-jockey or one of his "crew" takes over to torture the neighbourhood.

We cannot take this noise pollution any longer! Children in their beds have to listen to x-rated nastiness, old people cannot sleep, and the rest of us are just getting mad.

So we ask the promoters to stop this lunacy. They pay for the set. They pay big money for big sets. They have the power to tell the owner of the set to play the music they have paid for.

And we ask the police in Castle to stop noise pollution.

I am, etc.,

'PEPE' ZAHL

Long Bay, Portland
