Ardenne go after Wolmer's
published: Friday | September 19, 2003

By Levaughn Flynn, Staff Reporter

THE ISSA Pepsi/Sports Plus Manning Cup competition continues today with Groups B, C and F seeing action.

Group B hopefuls Ardenne are looking to surprise everyone this year.

"I'm feeling very good; we dropped a six-love. We are going to go to Wolmer's and see if we can get a win also," said Ardenne's coach, Carl Sewell, following his team's 6-0 whipping of Clan Carthy Tuesday.

However, that victory was good enough only for third spot in the group, as Jamaica College (9) and Tivoli (7) are ahead of them. Ardenne have six points.

Wolmer's who sit on only four points, are favourites over Ardenne and their match-up this afternoon should be intense.

Group C cellar-dwellers, Waterford and Edith Dalton-James, square off this afternoon, with both trying to earn their first point of the competition. Meanwhile, Group C top-notch team Excelsior (9) will try to extend their winning streak versus Spanish Town today at their Mountain View address.

St. Jago sit atop Group F with nine points and will be hosted by Kingston College. In some respects, KC have been disappointing so far by losing to Vauxhall and scraping a win over Greater Portmore. KC will have to play catch-up after their opening 0-1 defeat to Vauxhall, who are second in the group.

St. Jago, one of only four teams team to have a perfect win record, are expected to maintain their dominance of the group.
