LUVS, LET us celebrate the beautiful things around us and with which we are blessed! So here's a toast to life, friends, family and, of course, the absolute beauty of Jamaica and its continuing contribution to world culture and evolution!
Now speaking of things beautiful and blessings tourism grandmaster John Issa and his simply fabulous wife, the lovely Aida Issa, celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary last week Tuesday, with a working visit to their Brazil, SuperClubs property!
No, there were no celebrations. Just an intimate do between the pioneering hotel mogul and his Jordanian-born wife, whose social roots go all the way back to the Jordanian royal family. Indeed, the buzz is that the celebrations are to come next year on the anniversary of the couple's 40th year of their fabulous union. And so it is that congratulations are indeed in order to the very charming couple and many happy returns!
And this is definitely the year for marital milestones as also celebrating a fabulous marital milestone this season is the very charming couple and socialite emeritus Roy and Sylvia Collister, who celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary later this month! Congratulations all around!
Fabulous birthdays
STILL SPEAKING of celebrations: the charming R. Christene King celebrates her special day tomorrow. This style doyenne celebrates one of those fabulous-something years, as she too toasts the Age of the Virgo! On the 14th however, it was her mother's turn as the charming Hazel King celebrated another fabulous year!
Last week Saturday, it was all about "A-Crowd" socialite and power-broker Robert MacMillan, as it was his time to blow out the candles on his birthday cake.
Air Jamaica's Capt. Michael Lyn, celebrated on the 6th; whilst the charming Debbie Hamilton and the lovely Dawn Young, both of the Office of the Prime Minister, celebrated their Virgo birthday on the 9th and 13th respectively. And, people are still talking about the smasheroni of an affair that businessman Peter Bovell threw to mark his Virgo birthday over there at his très chic Old Stony Hill residence, two Saturdays ago. Doves, the buzz was it was all that and then some. It was one buffet of fabulousness!

AND SPEAKING of fabulousness it is easily one of the most fabulous tome of anything ever to come off a printing press here in this island.
We are talking editorially dee-vine! Contextually above reproach! And oh so, topical, in a forward-thinking manner! Dears we are talking about that absolutely fabulous publication known as The Jamaican, here. And as the Gleaner is the bible on all things news, entertaining and social, we are talking about the grand arbiter here! The Jamaican is the bible of historical and contemporary social perspective, in language, style and presentation that is really a study in charm!
Dovecakes, The Jamaican Collectors Edition, featuring the Best of St Elizabeth, is now out and in fabulous photographic essays and text makes it a must-have and a page-turner!
Now, this here magazine is definitely not for all and sundry - just for those with that discriminating sense of haute-style! So there!
All things snazzy
AND SPEAKING of those with that discriminating sense of haute-style: Dovecakes, people are still gung-ho, and then some over last Friday's Evening of Wine, Art and Fine Fare hosted at the snazzy St Andrew residence of St. Andrew socialites Dr. Trevor Golding and his charmingly engaging wife, Shirley Golding!
Dovecakes, the buzz here is that the one thousand dollar a ticket affair - a fund raiser for the all-woman Kiwanis Club of New Kingston was a study of utter good taste, with the finest of St. Andrew society in attendance. But the best reviews Dearhearts were reserved for the wines and art that was on offer!
Pumpkins, talk about a thing of beauty is indeed a joy forever! We'll sashay right along, as this was indeed a beaut of an affaire!
And, it's Fashion Week in the Big Apple all of this week. This was where Jamaica's leading men's upscale clothier, the simply gorgeous Sophia Max Brown was spotted.
She was shopping for that unique collection that has become the hallmark of her Max Brown chain of stores. Max Brown is a household name among the fashion conscious and has set those for whom she caters, heads and shoulders above the rest, in the world of high fashion!
And it seems that there is absolutely no stopping Fashion's latest belle, as the buzz is that the charming Nadine Willis has just landed herself another mega-campaign for one of Europe's leading fashion houses!
Now wait for this one as it promises to be so hot, it will clinch the upward moving Miss Willis's role as high fashion's latest Diva! So there! Get ready to move over Naomi, Tara, Claudia et al.
