By Daviot Kelly, Staff ReporterMOSINA JORDAN, Mission Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), was recently feted at a cocktail reception by the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica.
President of the PSOJ, Beverley Lopez, hosted the gathering on the spacious lawns of her Wiltshire home. It was a cosy affair.
Ms. Jordan's posting should have been up before now but having fallen in love with the island and its people, she asked for extensions. And at this event, everybody wanted to say their own personal goodbyes to the amicable lady.
In a moment of true comedy, the PSOJ head had a little trouble getting everyone assembled for the presentation ceremony. Minister of Industry and Tourism, Aloun N'dombet Assamba who possesses a much, let's say, stronger voice did the honours to great effect. Both the PSOJ and Jamaica Exporters' Association gave farewell gifts to the ambassador. When asked to say a few words, the great woman gladly stated that Jamaica was her most successful posting in her years of diplomatic service.
CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY
She told an appreciative gathering that she was going back to the United States to do her PhD. in clinical psychology. After some time in Washington D.C., she would be coming back to Jamaica to reside. When the calls for a toast to "a friend to Jamaica"
was made, the glasses were
immediately raised.
Among the small gathering were Wayne and Patricia Sutherland, Tony Ray, Becky Stockhausen, Peter King, Minister of Commerce, Science and Technology, Philip Paulwell, Robert Stephenson, Michael Ammar, Hayden Singh, president of the Jamaica Employers Federation, Herbert Lewis, US Ambassador Sue Cobb (before
jetting off to another engagement), Minna Israel and United Nations Regional Co-ordinator, Gillian Lindsay-Nanton.
