Western trio seek first wins
published: Sunday | September 21, 2003

Arnett's Ray Graham

WESTERN BUREAU:

THREE OF the four western based Wray And Nephew National Premier League (NPL) teams, newcomers Invaders, Reno and Seba United will be seeking their first wins today when the competition continues with round two.

None of the four western team managed to get into the win column in last week's first round but the three playing at home this week think they are in with good chances.

WISHFUL THINKING

It will take more than wishful thinking however as Invaders will be home against Harbour View at the Elleston-Wakeland Community Centre, Reno will host Waterhouse at Frome while Seba welcome Arnett Gardens at Jarrett Park. All games will kick off at 3:30 p.m.

Seba and Harbour View both added players in midweek while Arnett are still playing without some top players.

After a lukewarm performance in a 1-1 against Reno last week, Seba's coach Everton Tomlinson is expecting improvement. Last week they played without three new players, Floyd Scott, Glenworth Benjamin and Jason Rose, as their registrations had not been completed.

Tomlinson told The Gleaner yesterday that the paperwork has now been completed and it is all systems go.

Benjamin, he said, might be the only one of the three to get into the starting team to replace the suspended Keniel Moodie who was ejected in the second half last week.

Arnett will still play without five of their top players Walter Boyd, Kevin Wilson, Fabian Davis, Gregory Messam and Everton Bunsie but coach Jerome Waite said he hopes the new players will be able to acquit themselves as well as they did last week.

Garth Boota formerly of Wadadah and Ray Graham both scored on their debuts and while Waite will be expecting them to perform well was wary of travelling to Montego Bay to face the former champions.

The aim he said is for a point but added they would be grateful for all three.

Newly promoted Invaders FC could face the most pressure as the perform for the first time at this level in front of their home fans and much will be expected of them.
