WESTERN BUREAU:
BEN FRANCIS KO champions Old Harbour High and Glenmuir High both romped to their fourth straight wins in the ISSA Pepsi/ Sports Plus daCosta Cup football competition yesterday.
Old Harbour stayed two points in front of Garvey Maceo in Zone I with a 4-0 win over Porus to move to 12 points while Glenmuir were 1-0 winners over Denbigh to maintain their leader in Zone H.
They joined Bellefield who had beaten May Day 5-1 on Friday as the teams with the most wins so far.
Christiana was denied their fourth win however as they were held goalless by Holmwood Technical at home.
Three other teams maintained their perfect win records while three teams had their streaks snapped.
Eleven-time champions Cornwall College, Mannings and Titchfield were winners. Cornwall edged Herbert Morrison 1-0 in Zone A thanks to an Andrew Walker first half goal at Jarrett Park. Mannings beat Knockalva 2-0 while Titchfield behind five goals from Denroy Wilson blanked Fair Prospect 11-0 in their Zone L game.
Dinthill were held 0-0 by Charlemont in Zone J while Brimmervale and Happy Grove scored upset 1-0 wins over the previously unbeaten St Mary Technical and Seaforth High respectively.
Cecil Wilson and Kenny Shelly both scored two goals each for Clarendon College as they got back to back wins for the first time this season with a 7-0 spanking of Claude McKay.
Defending champions Rusea's continue to struggle, as they had to rely on a 89th minute goal to earn a 1-1 draw with minnows Merlene Ottey after losing in midweek to Zone B leaders Frome Technical.
Grange Hill scored their first win of the season with a 4-0 win over Green Island at the Belle Isle Sports Complex.
At Jarrett Park, Cornwall dominated the first half but had to hang on at the end against a game Herbert Morrison Technical whose failure to finish, cost them at least a share of the points.
Using the speedy winger Lushane Brent-Harris on the right along with Walker and the improving Charles Hines, Cornwall pushed Herbert Morrison back in their own half for long periods.
Herbert Morrison had the first real chance in the ninth minute when Cornwall's Tedroy Watson was forced to tip a curling corner over the bar, as it appeared headed directly for the far corner.
DOMINANCE PAY
Cornwall made their dominance pay off in the 15th minute when Brent-Harris was sent through with a defence splitting pass from Jahvan Russell. He easily disposed of Mario Samuels, raced to the touchline and crossed into the middle of the goal where Walker was waiting to punch it into the net.
The goal spurred Cornwall and they wasted no fewer than three good chances in the next 15 minutes with Walker, Andrew Brown and Brent-Harris missing easy chances.
Herbert Morrison were off to a much better start in the second half and managed to have Cornwall scrambling at times to keep them out of the area.
Substitute Ryan Wright should have scored from his first touch on the ball but his left foot shot was sent straight into a defender after Watson had dropped a high cross in the 69th minute.
Asaun Morris appeared surprised with the space he got inside the Cornwall defence in the 85th minute after beating the offside trap but shot into the side netting from less than 12 yards out.
