Jamaica Gleaner Letters

County councils to promote efficiency
THE EDITOR, Sir: THERE HAS been a constant stream of news articles in the Jamaican media over the past few years lamenting the gross untimeliness/sluggishness of central government in the repair of numerous community roads.

Supporting the Public Defender
THE EDITOR, Sir: I WRITE not in defence of Public Defender Howard Hamilton, but in total support of his recent pronouncement.

When praising the health care system
THE EDITOR, Sir: I READ a recent letter from Moina Spencer from Toronto, Canada, praising the health care system in Jamaica. However, she did not fully disclose all relevant facts surrounding her particular case.

The Emeritus vice-president
THE EDITOR, Sir: IT MUST have been a sight to behold to see the grown man, and in his case, the very grown man cry his tears of disappointment in full public view at (as it turned out) the temporary loss of some of his prestige at the recently concluded.

Minister caught in traffic jam
THE EDITOR, Sir: I was amazed when I read one of the headlines in one of our daily papers a few days ago...

Spanish Town bypass change not working
THE EDITOR, Sir: THIS MORNING (September 22) it took over one hour to travel from my home in Fairview to the Old Harbour round-about and a further half hour to reach Central Village.

Madam prosecutor?
THE EDITOR, Sir: APART FROM my deep respect for the law I have had no training in law, yet at the same time, I like to feast my eyes on proceedings in the court room.

RGD service disgusting, frustrating
THE EDITOR, Sir: I WOULD like to highlight the frustration and disgust at the service at the Registrar General Department. On 25th March 2003 I applied for a new birth certificate at the Half-Way-Tree branch.
