RGD service disgusting, frustrating
published: Friday | September 26, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WOULD like to highlight the frustration and disgust at the service at the Registrar General Department. On 25th March 2003 I applied for a new birth certificate at the Half-Way-Tree branch. I told them I would pick it up and they told me it would take six to eight weeks time, which service I agreed to take. After 10 weeks I decided I would go and pick it up only to be told it was not ready and I should check back in another week.

I telephoned the R.G.D. on September 12, 2003 and was told that it was not processed. Five months and two weeks have passed and I am yet to get my birth certificate and to know when it will be ready, be it one week, three weeks or one year. People who request one-day service are also having problems. I am so frustrated in the sense that I don't want to go there to find out what is happening to the processing.

Why haven't they supplied the service they say they are offering and if they cannot maintain the services they offer, don't advertise, just let persons apply for what they need.

I am, etc.,

JEANETTE THYME
