Boyz to face Brazil
published: Friday | September 26, 2003

JAMAICA'S REGGAE Boyz will meet world champions Brazil in a big friendly match set for October 12 in England.

In making the grand announcement at the Jamaica Football Federation's secretariat yesterday, president Captain Horace Burrell said all the top Brazilian stars are expected to line up for the match.

"I have had dialogue with my counterpart from Brazil and he has promised that the Brazilian national team will have in their line-up Ronaldo (Real Madrid), Roberto Carlos (Real Madrid), captain Cafu (AC Milan), Ronaldinho (Barcelona), Kaka (AC Milan) and all the other top players."

LEADING PLAYERS

The Reggae Boyz are also expected to parade their leading players, most of which are based in England. They include Ricardo Gardner of Bolton Wanderers, Preston's Ricardo Fuller one of the leading forwards in English Division One, Onandi Lowe of Rushden and Diamonds and the Charlton Athletic duo of Kevin Lisbie and Jamal Campbell-Ryce.

According to Burrell all the arrangements have been put in place.

"Brazil Football Association president Ricardo Texiera and myself have both signed off," Burrell said.

"I am very happy that this is going to happen. We have been trying for two years to get this game between Brazil and ourselves," he explained. "It took a lot of persuasion," he concluded.
