PRIME MINISTER P.J. Patterson yesterday began a one-week visit to New York for a series of meetings.
Today he will deliver Jamaica's policy statement on international, political, social and economic affairs to the United Nations General Assembly and highlight the achievements and challenges of regional integration at a public lecture at the Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, New York.
He is also expected to highlight critical issues affecting Jamaica and the Caribbean, during an address at the University of Hartford, Connecticut, where he will be conferred with the honorary degree of Doctor of Letters.
On Friday, Mr. Patterson will speak on the Jamaican economy and prospects for further investment during an address to the Americas Society, an organisation of business people.
Until his return on Sunday, Portia Simpson Miller, Minister of Local Govern-ment and Community Development, will be in charge of the Government.
