Be Wary of Fox News
published: Wednesday | October 1, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

PROBABLY CLIFF Hughes of 'Impact' does not know that Fox News is an anti-immigrant news network. We are hearing here in New York that Cliff Hughes' 'Impact' and Fox News are forming an alliance to cover the Malvo trial. We find this very offensive as Jamaicans, especially seeing how this network over a period has bashed immigrants.

Watching programmes like the 'O'Reilly Factor' hosted by Bill O'Reilly is for us to see what next they are planning to do with us immigrants. After they caught Malvo, the anti-immigrant cries went up on this news network and every other night Bill O'Reilly would invite an anti-immigrant Senator from Denver to his programme to show the many reasons why immigrants should be deported.

The impact of this news is affecting many Jamaicans here in New York.

We are asking Cliff Hughes and 'Impact' to be wary of this alliance. Also, please do some more investigation about this news network, and make sure its purposes are clear. We would not like to see this medium being used to mar Jamaicans at home and aboard.

I am, etc.,

STEVE WILSON
