Govt's hypocrisy
published: Wednesday | October 1, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

WE ASK the Jamaican people to buy Jamaican goods to build our country's economy and create more jobs for our people.

Yet our government - the Ministry of Education - gives schoolbook contract to foreigners to print, denying local printers the job.

The Bank of Jamaica, a department of government, gives uniform contract to foreigners while denying local garment workers jobs. Our banks also follow by giving uniform contracts to foreigners, yet we put our little savings in these banks to make them prosperous. Also we pay tax to government, yet it's like they throw dirty water in our faces by taking our jobs and giving it to foreign workers. What hypocrisy!

I am, etc.,
