Jamaica Gleaner Letters

Uneven playing field
THE EDITOR, Sir: I WOULD like to note my support for the article written by Dr. Lloyd Prince about the recently-conducted World Trade Organisation (WTO) conference and its implications for Jamaica and other developing states.

Who is crazy?
THE EDITOR, Sir: I WAS most distressed to read that the woman who disrobed herself to stand with the two naked giants in Emancipation Park was subsequently taken to Bellevue Hospital.

Turning a blind eye
THE EDITOR, Sir: I READ with interest your article on 'Rooting out corruption ...'. Well, until we can remove corruption from the head of the stream, a common cliché, but it still holds true...

Great job, Mr Hendrickson
THE EDITOR, Sir: AT SOME point in our lives we all have to work with someone who we consider our boss. The Honourable Karl Hendrickson is a real good boss and great Jamaican.

A full-time bowling clinic
THE EDITOR, Sir: OVER THE years the West Indies selectors have been found guilty of not allowing bowlers enough time to mature and develop their bowling skills.

Improving the Force
THE EDITOR, Sir: WHEN THE police address the citizen as 'Sir' and 'Ma'am', the brain goes into tranquillity. When the citizen is addressed as 'Boy' or 'Gal', the brain goes into the fight or flight syndrome.

Helping farmers
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE FACT that developed countries give large financial support to their farmers should not only be seen as helping the farmers but also ensuring that their populace can access food at reasonable prices.

Ferry for the Forum
THE EDITOR, Sir: I HAVE just read the letter 'What's up with the Forum' so I am writing a letter which has been in my hands for the last 30 years.

Crime control
THE EDITOR, Sir: WHAT THE police are trying to do now, if they had done it 50 years ago, they would be better able to control crime. Now the police are getting to the inner cities, talking to citizens and trying to socialise.

No respect for life
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE NUMBER of killings at busy intersections, on buses and in communities, is rising again. From a layman's observation it is clear that there is no respect for life by these killers.

May the best man win
THE EDITOR, Sir: CRESTON BOXHILL'S decision to contest the election for presidency of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) must be welcomed.

Green light for Dolphin Cove
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE JAMAICAN government has given the owners the greenlight for the expansion of Dolphin Cove, a captive-dolphin facility on Jamaica's North Coast.
