Waterhouse ready to battle Star Cosmos

WATERHOUSE HOPE to break-in their revamped complex at Drewsland with a victory when they tackle Star Cosmos in the Wray & Nephew National Premier League (NPL) today at 3:30.

In other games near Kingston, defending champions Portmore United host Harbour View at the Ferdie Neita Sports Complex at 3:30 and Arnett Gardens welcome Village United at 5:30.

Waterhouse coach Barry Brown expects a capacity crowd to spur his side, which is sitting eighth in the standings, to a much-needed victory today.

"We had a practice session at Drewsland on Thursday and if the crowd was an indication of what we're going to get on Sunday, then we're in for a huge turnout," Brown said.

"The vibes are good. The players are looking forward to playing at Drewsland once more. They are responding quite well and I'm quite happy that we're back home. The players want to give their best to the Waterhouse fans who they believe have been quite loyal."

Waterhouse have managed only a solitary victory from their first four encounters while drawing twice and losing once.

Promoted side Star Cosmos have fared even worse than their hosts having lost three from four and drawing their other match.

That sees them at the foot of the standings with Invaders who also only have a point.

Meanwhile Portmore tackle table-topping Harbour View in perhaps the most intriguing encounter of the day. Portmore United's coach, Lenworth Hyde, has been critical of his charges, saying they were not playing the way they should.

Portmore drew their past two games after winning their first two and have eight points, one fewer than Harbour View and Constant Spring.

Harbour View have won their past three games after a surprise loss to Constant Spring in their opening game. Fabian Taylor struck all four goals for Harbour View in their first two wins but missed out on the scoring action last Sunday against Seba due to an injury.

"There were minor concerns about our forwards stepping up and giving Fabian some help. However, after he was taken out of the Seba game for an injury, all those were dispelled as the forwards stepped up for a 4-1 victory," Harbour View's coach, Donovan Hayles, said.

Arnett Gardens are back home today after a lucky escape at the Railway Oval where they collected a 1-0 victory over Tivoli. Arnett's coach, Jerome Waite, said the game was a test of character and his team would show what it was made of against Village.

"I've seen vast improvement in our level of play and we should be ready and quite comfortable at home against Village," Waite said.
