Night noises
published: Monday | October 6, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

A DANCE was held in Jacks Hill Square on Sunday, Septem-ber 28. The "music" began at 8 p.m. and continued uninterrupted until 4.30 or 5 o'clock Monday morning. The noise was unbelievably loud all night and was only turned down half an hour before it finally stopped.

I live in the neighbourhood and sleep was impossible that night.

I have spoken to various persons in the area about the event but I do not know who organised it.

I was also told that it was "on the news" and was given the understanding that this made the event reasonable and within the law.

What about the law regarding night noises?

I am, etc.,

HELLEN, J. AITKEN, J.P.
