Exorbitant fees charged by Office of Titles
published: Monday | October 6, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I JOIN the list of persons complaining about the exorbitant fees being charged by the Office of Titles, now part of the National Land Agency, for title search.

I had occasion to search a title for a client via the Internet. The Volume and Folio numbers were entered and a match found. Immediately a charge of $500 was deducted from my account. When I tried to view the title I was advised that the "document not yet scanned". So I was not able to view and inspect the title or print a copy of same.

I paid the fee of $500 and in return got NOTHING AT ALL. Government departments ought to conduct their affairs with honesty, probity and respect for members of the public.

I am, etc.,
