published: Monday | October 6, 2003

Joseph Hibbert, opposition Member of Parliament for St. Andrew east rural has served notice that at the expiration of 21 days, he'll pose the following questions to Robert Pickersgill, Minister of Transport and Works:

1. Is the Minister aware that a number of contractors have not been paid for work done on various projects within the Ministry?

2. If the answer to question one is in the affirmative could the Minister provide a listing of the contractors, the projects on which they are engaged, the period of delay of payment and the sums of money involved in each case?

3. Further if the answer to Question one is in the affirmative, will the Minister state what effect the non-payment is having on the execution of these works?

4. Will the Minister state what provisions are contained in the contract documents for interest to be paid on late payments?

5. Will the Minister state the amount of interest calculated thus far? And will the Minister further state how much of this has been paid to the contractors?

6. Will the Minister state what efforts are being made to effect payments to those contractors and reduce the costs and time over-runs on these projects?
