Showing signs of weakness
published: Wednesday | October 8, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE RECENT statement by Mr. Andrew Gallimore, MP of West Rural St Andrew, for contractors to work with area leaders and politicians is very unprofessional and shows signs of weakness.

Contractors should never give in to extortionists. The police should use undercover cops to catch extortionists. Giving in to extortionists is like giving up your freedom. It is a shame that the Government has not put measures in place to prevent extortion. Jamaica has become a place of illegal activities and the government needs to bring extortioners to justice. It is really disgraceful and shameful for activities like this to take place in Jamaica. I hope the police get a handle on this one.

I am, etc.,
