'Switching off' of Cable and Wireless
published: Thursday | October 9, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WAS reviewing my C&W landline bill and found many cellular call charges that looked incorrect. I had apparently called cellular phone numbers, had not gotten through but C&W charged me $7, the "direct full" rate anyhow.

Is it only me or did anyone else get the impression that per second billing was not only the cellular service but also the landline service? I therefore called the customer service number to verify if I was correctly charged. The person advised me that the per second only applied to cellular calls.

How can C&W really be surprised that customers continue to remain loyal to Digicel? If I call someone on his or her Digicel (or C&W) cell phone, get their recording and hang up immediately, C&W charges me $7 per call. They are a bunch of thieves! This just gives me and everybody else with a landline and a Digicel phone a great opportunity to start buying higher denominations of Digicel phone cards.

Thanks for giving me another reason for "SWITCHING OFF" of Cable and Wireless!

I am, etc.,

SWITCHED OFF
