Make adultery a criminal offence
published: Thursday | October 9, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

WITH THE harsh economic reality facing our country and the near population explosion, would it not be a good thing for the Government to enact new laws prohibiting sex out of marriage and making it a criminal offence?

Adultery should also be made a crime, since these are married men impregnating women other than their wives and abandoning them, leaving the children to suffer.

These laws would not only be upholding God's commandments, but they would help to curtail the abundance of unwanted children roaming the streets, and later committing criminals acts.

One only has to listen to some radio programmes to hear the various cries of mothers needing help in some form or the other for children left abandoned by careless fathers.

I know that I am going to be bashed by the human rights agencies, but they are not the ones feeling the pain, neither are they giving a helping hand. Bag of words and hungry belly do not harmonise. Some people need more than oral guidance, they also need legislative guidance.

I am, etc.,
