Breeding a nation of cowards
published: Sunday | October 12, 2003

THE EDITOR: Sir

WE ARE fast breeding a nation of cowards. How else can one describe the onlookers on a busy street who stood by while a woman was being attacked and did nothing.

Who were these? How many men were in that crowd: how many women? I would bet there were no senior citizens there for they would not have stood by.

There is something in urban living that deprives us of our humanity. To those who stood around remember when you call for help there may be none to answer.

I am, etc.,

DOREEN D. BRAMWELL
