Shame on the Reverend
published: Thursday | October 16, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I FIND it quite appalling that the Rev. Canon Ernle Gordon would even think to suggest that, as a nation, we should be teaching our children to tolerate homosexuality in our schools beginning at the prep school level. While I believe that it takes a certain amount of tolerance for people to co-exist, I believe it would be going too far to teach our children to accept the homosexual way of life.

I cry shame on the Reverend as, as a man of the cloth, I think he ought to know better. I would not even waste my time with the members of J-FLAG because they obviously don't know better.

I applaud the current Education Minister for not re-opening any discussions on the matter. It is one thing when members of a society practise deviant behaviours but it is totally another thing to sanction it as a country.

The fact that more people around the world are doing it doesn't make it right.

I am etc.,
