A most welcome sight
published: Tuesday | October 21, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WAS extremely pleased when driving through Half-Way Tree on the morning of October 15, to see our Half-Way Tree clock actually working. It was a most welcome sight.

The Bureau of Standards who obviously took the initiative in bringing about this transformation deserve the thanks and commendation of all who pass by what is now more than a monument. It is now a significant indicator that there is work to be done and done on time even as we celebrate Heritage Week.

I am, etc.,

ELSIE SAYLE
