By Suzette Smith, Gleaner WriterYOUTHFUL AND vibrant Lisa White died tragically on Saturday, September 27, 2003.
The 28-year-old young woman who had a zest for life was fatally shot near her home and her death has left a sombre mood in the family. "Mi a try fi cope. It hard but life goes on," said her mother Phyllis Ellis reflectively.
Miss White was the third child for her mother and was born on February 6, 1975 in Kingston. She attended Irish Jelly Primary School and later Charlie Smith Comprehensive High. She later assisted her mother in business. She had two children, Rayon and Trudy who miss her dearly. Miss Ellis tries to compensate for her loss by giving both the requisite care that their mother would have given them.
She was a woman of varied moods, "sometimes she get miserable but otherwise she is nice", Miss Ellis said. She joked with her mother most of the times, "sometimes she check mi and she woulda say, how you face make-up so, and mi no come fi beg you nothing" she said laughingly.
Miss White loved partying and giving jokes. She would normally be seen at parties and stage shows dancing in a white top and black bottom. White was her favourite colour.
Her mother, son, daughter, four sisters, two brothers, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends are still grieving at her unexpected loss. Thanksgiving service was held at Dovecot Chapel on Sunday, October 19, at 2:30 p.m. Interment followed in the Dovecot Park.
