Pirates shipwreck 'Ochie' on the weekend
published: Wednesday | October 22, 2003

IN NO uncertain terms, Appleton Jamaica Rum locked down the north coast town of Ocho Rios for the entire Heroes weekend.

They did this with a series of parties that each had their own vibe and attitude. The only similarities were that at each session you saw the same party loving people getting as much music, food, liquor and entertainment into their systems as possible.

The weekend was called 'Pirates of Ochie' and kicked-off at Margaretaville in the Island Shopping Centre with 'Pirates, The Docking'. This was a cosy session which featured Arif Cooper at the turntables, ZJ Capone from Zip FM, and Black Chiney Sound System. Patrons attended this session late but it built up into a huge fete.

The following day, they staged an all inclusive beach party called 'Stages'. There patrons were pampered in every way with a wide variety of food and drink to choose from, a hot tub to relax in, a pool to swim in, and miles of sand to romp, sit and mingle in.

Shortly after this ended it was back to Margaretaville for the after-party called 'Shipwrecked'. This turned out to be the wildest and most carefree event of the three, as almost anything went. The party vibe and energy lasted from Saturday night until daylight Sunday morning.
