SPANISH TOWN, St. Catherine:
OMAR BARRETT, 24-year-old labourer of Homestead, St. Catherine, is now in the custody of the Spanish Town Police, charged with carnal abuse.
Reports from the Spanish Town Police are that Barrett is presently before the gun court on a separate shooting charge. As a condition of his bail in that matter, he reported to the Spanish Town Police Station on October 17, where a warrant of arrest was executed on him for the carnal abuse of a 14-year-old girl.
The incident was allegedly committed in March of this year.
It is reported that the complainant refused then to give the police a statement, and so the law enforcers were unable to take action against Barrett.
However, the teenager became pregnant and her mother reported the matter to the police, at which point the 14-year-old then gave a statement and a warrant of arrest was executed.
