High praise for police handling of Canterbury

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Please allow me this opportunity to congratulate Commissioner Forbes, Assistant Commissioner of Police Martin, Senior Superintendent Pusey and all of the police officers involved in the recent police action in Canterbury, St. James.

It is clear that your restraint and professional handling of that police action resulted in lives saved and the containment of what could have been even more damaging to our international image. Our prayers are sent for the policemen who were injured and hope for them a speedy recovery.

It is my hope that the residents of all communities are able to give you the support that you need in order to repeat the successes that you have achieved.
