Munroe to quiz Whiteman

THE FOLLOWING questions to be asked by Government Senator Professor Trevor Munroe, are directed at Burchell Whiteman, Leader of Government Business in the Senate:

1. Is the Minister aware of the final report of the National Committee on Crime and Violence, a body which included representatives of the government, the opposition and civil society, signed by the Hon. Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition at George William Gordon House on Tuesday, June 11, 2002?

2. If the answer to question one is in the affirmative, is the honourable Minister aware that the final report contained a total of 16 recommendations?

3. If the answer to question two is in the affirmative, would the honourable Minister indicate what action has been or is being taken (and the time frame) in relation to recommendations No. 10 ( c ) (3) (p.16) and No. 12 (p.17).

4. Would the honourable Minister also give an update on the implementation of the other recommendations of this report?
