System of recall needed
published: Tuesday | October 28, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I VIEW with interest the election in the state of California in the United States of America where Governor Bill Davis has been recalled by the electorate for poor management of the economy of the state before the expiration of his elected term of office.

I would really like to ask if the said system of recall of our elected representatives or even the government on a whole for incompetence is not in our constitution.

If our constitution does not contain this sort of recall I do think that in the thinking of and drafting of our new constitution this should be considered and made into law.

Both in Government and Opposition too many of our elected representatives fall into the incompetent bracket and need to be recalled.

I am, etc.,
