THE KINGSTON and St. Andrew Corporation's (KSAC) City Engineer, Tex Innerarity, has resigned.
This was confirmed last week by Town Clerk Errol Greene.
His resignation was due to "health and personal reasons," Mr. Innerarity said. "You know I was on sick leave for an extended period."
CONCERNS
But sources told The Gleaner that Mr. Innerarity's resignation follows a number of concerns raised regarding some "questionable" decisions made by the Council, reportedly with his approval.
"The Ministry of Local Government was written to requesting an investigation into a particular development where permission was given to build. It turned out to have more floors than for which approval was given," one source said.
Other sources indicated Mayor of Kingston Desmond McKenzie has expressed concerns and was not satisfied with the performance of the department and several councillors have called for a review of how it is being run. Mayor McKenzie referred The Gleaner to Mr. Greene yesterday.
Mr. Innerarity, who began working with the KSAC in 2000, said he was "not aware of anything like that."
The resignation becomes effective on November 30, but Mr. Innerarity said he will be leaving at least a week before that for travels overseas "to deal with some personal matters."
