WESTERN BUREAU:

THE REMAINING three spots in the semis-finals of the ISSA Pepsi/ Sports Plus daCosta Cup will be confirmed this afternoon following the playing of the final round of quarter-final matches.

Five schools are in with a realistic chance of making it alongside Clarendon College who secured their place on Wednesday after their second win in the quarter-final stage.

The Dennis Hutchinson-coached Clarendon College lead Group Two with six points while contenders Frome Technical and Seaforth High, who will meet at Drax Hall, are both on three points.

Cornwall College lead the tightly bunched Group One with four points with Holmwood next on three and Titchfield on two.

Frome Technical, Cornwall College and Holmwood Technical all need just a point from their games today to advance but will all have to earn it to join Clarendon in the final four.

Munro are also in with a chance, a slim one albeit, as they must beat Cornwall when they meet at Frome and hope Holmwood get a point against Titchfield at Dinthill in Linstead, St. Catherine.

The two key games will be Seaforth versus Frome at Drax Hall and Titchfield versus Holmwood at Dinthill as the winners of both games will advance.

The game between Frome Technical and Seaforth High promises to be the best and most competitive of the afternoon as both have won once in this round, Dinthill being the victims on both occasions.

FROME MOMENTUM

Frome will have momentum on their side after their convincing 4-0 win over Dinthill on Wednesday and coach Boysie Nicholson will be hoping they maintain their goal-scoring form. The four goals equalled the number of goals the Frank Brown-coached team had conceded in their previous 13 matches.

Adrian Robinson should return to the starting team after serving a one-game suspension and will join Jeolani Plummer, Errol Bryan, who scored two goals on Wednesday, and Shane Anderson as the players expected to lead the Frome attack.

Seaforth are coming off a 1-0 loss to Clarendon College but coach Calvert Fitzgerald will be hoping his charges can rebound and book a place in their first ever national semi-finals.

The Titchfield versus Holm-wood game should be intense but while Holmwood can settle for a point, Titchfield must go all out for a win.

Goalkeeper Fabian Dinnall could be the key for Holmwood as he has been all season. On Wednesday he came up with a string of brilliant saves after his defence was breached time and time again.

He will be pitted against the Titchfield strikers Denroy Wilson, Teron Walker and Ryan McNeil.

Munro's coach, Neil Harrison, will have a big task on his hands to lift his players for today's game. The St. Elizabeth school was unfortunate not to come away from their game against Holmwood on Wednes-day at St. Elizabeth Technical with at least a point after dominating throughout.

Munro, who have not won the title since 1964 and were losing finalists in 2000, were let down by Wade Wadsworth, Roshane Ellison and Toric Robinson.

These players, along with Andrae Anderson and dead ball specialist Oraine Barrett, must step up today if Munro are to upset Cornwall and grab a place.

They will have to do so without captain and top defender Donald Simms who was expelled from the field late in the game on Wednesday.

Cornwall have had the better of Munro in the most recent games and with their superior defensive record should be given the nod.

Cornwall have allowed one goal in their past six outings dating back to the final game in Zone A and coach Dr. Dean Weatherly will be hoping his players can step up to the task today.
