A big mistake
published: Monday | November 10, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

SEVERAL WEEKS ago when I read The Gleaner on-line (which I do every day), I was shocked to find that the resort police in Ocho Rios were withdrawn. My husband and I have stayed in Ocho Rios seven times and will be returning again soon. We love to visit the shops and feel much safer knowing those people are there to watch over us and provide security if needed.

We were in Jamaica on September 11, 2001, and could not have felt more compassion and concern anywhere else in the world. Jamaica and her people make us feel like we truly are Jamericans. Tourism is picking up again but this is a big mistake by not having that extra security.

I am, etc.,
